A colleague in New York City tourism had a group of middle school kids at the Statue Of Liberty. He told them the story of the American Revolution and the French Revolution and the gift of the statue in 1885. He asked if any of them knew what was written on the tablet held in the Statue’s left hand. A kid’s mouth and eyes widened as she asked, incredulously, “They had tablets back then?”
